Dear Artist
I am pleased to announce the dates for the 2010 Original Art Sale. The event will take place on 25 – 27 June 2010. The Gala Charity Preview Evening will be held on 24th June.
Registrations for the 2010 Original Art Sale are now open online or via mail, the postal details below. Please read all details carefully. Entries close 12 April 2010.

Details are online but in summary it costs $45 to register. You enter and pay on line, completing the application form and attaching jpeg sample of your work or a web link it can be viewed at. For those few that can’t do this we will accept a photo by post along with a cheque for $45. Once we have received your entry they will be judged and you will be advised how many works we will accept. If you are not accepted the $45 will not be refunded and we will not enter into communication as to why a work is not accepted. If you have sold work with us before you should be accepted, but please be aware that we have had over 2,000 artists express interest and we can only accept a maximum of 400 – 500.
Remember our exhibition is a “Supermarket Exhibition” which means guests buy the work on the spot and take it to the cashier then home. Once a work is sold it is replaced with another which means we will only display half the works at any one time. Approximately 900 works will always be on display. If your work sells we take a commission of 30% (If a work sells for $500 we take $150 and the artist gets $350). The average price achieved last year was $680 for each work.
The 2009 Original Art Sale was another successful year showcasing many established and budding New Zealand artists and selling a good volume of artworks. The Charity Gala Preview Evening was also very successful raising funds for the Children’s area at Middlemore Hospital.
The 2010 Original Art Sale:
- Each artist will be able to submit 4 artworks (up to 12 by special request)
- A number of folders listing artists profiles will be available for the public to view at the event (successful artists will be asked to supply a brief bio)
- A dedicated Matariki Award display for all entries
- Free entry for one of the sale days for artists with artworks displayed
- 4th year at TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre
- Gala Charity Preview Evening raising funds for South Auckland Health Foundation
- We continue to differ from other sales: You don’t need to send your works until you are selected
- Works to be priced $100 – $5000
I look forward to another successful event in 2010.
