Your Dream Glass Trip

Posted by BorntoBeadnz on June 15, 2011

Hi everyone,

Cora Bailey recently did Anastasia’s workshop and has asked us for help to plan a dream trip.

Cora has an opportunity to put together a couple of specialist overseas trips, and she wondered what would be your dream trip? The thought that visiting one or some of the US bead shows, maybe kiln and gear manufacturers, definitely glass manufacturers, Venice and Murano, Czech Republic? India for bulk manufacturer? The idea is to put together a dream list, then see what is possible, then see what the costs are and adjust from there.

Please send responses to Cora at CBBaillie@gmail.com

May Challenge by Claire Taylor

Posted by Claire Taylor on May 12, 2011

I wanted to enter this bead into the May challenge.
It is an oblong tab bead with honeycomb on both sides. It features two little honey bees (Barney and Frizz…think about it…got it? lol) and has a drip of honey on one side. This is part of my ‘Honey Bee mine’ series that I am currently exploring.

I love the way the honeycomb came out on this, as it really does have the seperated hexagons of a real honeycomb :)

Isla Osborne – May Challenge

Posted by IslaOsborne on May 5, 2011

Hi guys,

My entry for the May challenge… It’s called Brown Infection and is a collection of lampworked glass viruses on acrylic. The piece is from my current body of work called “The winter of my discontent”.

I know that we don’t generally think of viruses as beautiful, viewed objectively however, they can be seen as objects of splendid complexity. Beautiful nature.
