Release a Bead
The release a bead project is a global initiative organised by the International Society of Glass Beadmakers.
It’s time to share the joy of beadmaking! Join beadmakers around the world and share your love of beadmaking by releasing beads into the wild during the month of July. What a wonderful surprise someone will find in the most unexpected place!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
NZGBA members at any stage can choose to participate in the Release a bead project. Anyone can participate and have fun!
1. Choose your bead(s), make sure bead release has been cleaned out and the beads annealed.
2. Download the information card here and place it, with your bead into a clear plastic bag. Please don’t include a business card; this project is about sharing the love of beads, not soliciting business.
3. Release your bead.
4. Let us know your story – the clues, the finding, etc.
You can track the comments on your beads at www.releaseabead.com
You can send information and photos (in jpeg or gif format) to info@releaseabead.com

I’m too young to type anything that most people will understand but I found my beautiful bead (Matalic black with aqua and blue blobs) on a swing in Francis Reserve, Grey Lynn. My Mum says that she will look after it for me until I’m old enough not to swallow it. Thank you it’s lovely. Zoe Bug x

My beautiful bead was found at the Paraparaumu library in New Zealand, I was putting it in lost property when we found out it was free to a good home, everyone decided for me that I was to have it!

Last month a few lampworkers got together to release our beads into the wilds of urban Auckland. We thought that it was time to share the joy of beadmaking; planting wonderful suprises for people to find in unexpected places.
