Arc Neckpiece
This is a technique I’ve been working with on and off since last year. Blown or in this case sectioned borosilicate tube, fused in whiting so the form stays together with the high temp necessary. Johno (my partner) says the latest experiments look like deflated condoms. Not the best comparison. It might be something to do with scale. I’m working on blowing them larger and fusing in large groups as well as grinding borosilicate frit into enamel and painting the final piece… will show you pics as soon as I have something that gets past the bin.

Not a fancy bead at all – but I have been experimenting with sand from different beaches – photo dosn’t do this justice but Iron Sand looks quite cool – and free from most beaches! I have just been making some round beads and coating with different types of sand to see effect etc.

Here is a necklace I made up recently where I made hollow beads and pressed them flat so they resemble beans! Not sure how new this technique is but I quite like the shape of the beads.

Just a brief note to say I ordered some glass from Affordable Inspirations a few weeks ago. I was a bit concerned about ordering from Oz thinking it might take forever and that there may be issues with freight and possible breakages etc.
All I can say is I did not need to be concerned because my parcel arrived very quickly and was very much intact. The glass range at AI is really excellent (lots of colours & types to chose from) and Kerry is delightful to deal with. Got to give it to the Aussies – they do customer selection & service really well

Hi guys, Carol just told me that Sauvarins glass room in Onehunga (Auckland) bought the final stock from Judy at Annie Rose so now stocks lampworking glass. Very useful for us Auckland types. x isla

This glass bead has been donated to Handmade for Christchurch. It will be auctioned on Trade Me and the proceeds donated to the Red Cross for Christchurch. I have set it in a handmade (by me) fine silver bail.
