Annual Bead Exchange
Posted by Bobbie Pene on July 13, 2010
I thought it would be good for us to post about our beads for the bead exchange – the inspiration behind our beads. I like to choose a technique that I am unfamiliar with and use the opportunity to master it by the last bead made.
I wanted to create bright and sparkly beads that were etched in places and left unetched in others – sort of like windows to see the sparkling inclusions beneath. It sounded great in theory but the etch didn’t seem to take on many of them. I had never used etching solution before so etched trial beads made with Effetre. They etched beautifully, but my beads for the bead exchange were made with Bullseye glass and look more scratched than etched.
I don’t have enough time to make 10 more beads so will be sending these in for the exchange. I apologise in advance to those of you who receive a ‘dud’ bead.

Ok, getting mine ready to post:)
I’m usually not one for making sets, whenever I try I get bored after maybe 3 that are similar lol, so just the repitition of trying to get 10 matching beads was a challenge for me!
I decided to concentrate on my favourite style of dot beads and trial the reactions I could get from the various silver colours.
How to add a picture in a reply… I just can’t figure out, so here’s a link to the pic in my flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/gracernz/4803828996/
looking forward to getting a special package!

Thanks for the link to your beads for the exchange. They are great and I hope I get one of yours. I have been playing with reactive glass and just love the unpredictability of it. I will be making some pandora style beads this week coming with reactive glass so hopefully they will turn out as good as yours.
